SCIENTIFIC PROOF!
In 2004 the International Journal of Psychophysiology published a study on the Frontal Midline Theta Activity as an Index of the Efficacy of Animal-Assisted Therapy in Cases of Math Anxiety. The study examined the use of an electrophysiological measure to investigate the efficacy of Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) for relieving anxiety during a mental arithmetic stressor task. The findings suggested that the beneficial effect of therapy dogs on anxiety is robust, as it occurs regardless of whether the participant is engaged in a stressor task that intrinsically involves material related to a participant’s anxiety disorders.
